Wooden Letter Makeover

My mom gave me this beautiful wooden "H" for my birthday and I was so excited to decorate it and make it shabby. I am so happy with the way it turned out.

I started by painting the edges black and waiting for them to dry. You don't have to worry about the paint getting on the front because it won't show when you are finished.

Next I took some Mod Podge and watered it down a little bit. Then I set it aside.

I took an old hymnal and pulled out a few pages and cut them up into tiny pieces. Using a paint brush I slathered a generous amount of Mod Podge onto my letter. Then I put the small pieces of hymnal paper on the part I had glued and quickly painted more Mod Podge over the top of the the paper.

Overlapping lots of paper is the key. You shouldn't see any part of the wood once you are done.

Once the entire letter is covered set it aside dry.

Now you have beautiful, simply shabby letter! :)

Thanks for stopping by. If you have any questions or comments please let me know!!!
